Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday appealed to the people of West Bengal to form the BJP government in state to put an end to the problem of infiltrators. He hit out at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to allow these infiltrators, who crossed border from Bangladesh, get their Indian documents like voter cards and Aadhaar.
Speaking at News18 Rising Bharat Summit, Shah accused the INDI bloc parties of using these infiltrators for vote bank politics.
“I would like to request the people of Bengal to form the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the coming elections, the problem of infiltrators will end from there. The whole country knows that even after fencing the border, there is about 250 km of border where fencing is not possible. Because there are rivers, streams, difficult geographical conditions due to which fencing is not possible. There is 400 km of border where the Bengal government is not giving us land for fencing,” he said.
“Secondly, whether they are Rohingyas or Bangladeshis where are their voter cards being made? All these voter cards are made in Bengal’s 24 Parganas district only. Why has it stopped in Assam? INDI bloc parties see vote banks in them,” he added.
Shah said that the BJP will sweep the next assembly election while pointing out that the party increased its seats from just 4 to 77 in last polls.
On CM Banerjee’s remark on latest Supreme Court’s ruling, the Home Minister said, “I cannot say that I will not follow the Supreme Court’s ruling.”
Banerjee on Monday met the teachers who lost their jobs following the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the Calcutta High Court’s order annuling the appointment of over 25,000 teaching and non-teaching staff in state-run schools.
