A fortnight-long summer camp titled ‘Parisara Besuge’ is being organised by Mysuru-based NGO V-CARE to blend children with nature. There is no fee for this camp.

The summer camp, which began on April 13, has been exposing children from migrant families, tribals, slums, government schools as well as middle class families, to a variety of activities ranging from theatre, singing, painting, magic, and puppet shows.

Though V-CARE has been conducting summer camps for children and women in its premises at Hootagalli in Mysuru for the last 12 years, the ongoing two-week-long camp is on the theme of environment. The slogan of the camp is ‘Let’s Go Green – Let’s Breathe’.

V-CARE Foundation founder Kumudini Achchi said the participants come from diverse backgrounds, including children from forest tribal areas, children of urban sanitation workers, besides children from organisations like Odanadi and Good Wish. Meals and snacks are provided to the children free of cost.

A total of 65 children are participate in the summer camp whose activities and events also include dance drama, Yakshagana, clay art, public speaking skills, folk songs, documentaries, visits to museums and activities on reptile and bird conservation.

The summer camp is scheduled to conclude on April 27.
