On the birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar who played a key role in drafting the Indian constitution, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav celebrated it by eating Sattu (roasted gram flour) at the house of a Dalit man in Raghopur Assembly constituency.

The RJD organised a programme in every panchayat in Bihar where party workers garlanded the photo of Ambedkar. Under the programme, Mr. Yadav visited Rampur Panchayat.

Lagan Devdas expressed his happiness over the visit of Mr. Yadav who is also the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar Legislative Assembly. He said that he was very fortunate that the RJD leader visited his house. Mr. Yadav was accompanied by Rajya Sabha member Sanyay Yadav and several dalit leaders.

Sattu is famous food in Bihar and people of all classes consume it which is considered healthy and nutritious. 

Before eating Sattu, he also addressed the people of Rampur talking about the contribution of Dr. Ambedkar in the making of the constitution. Mr. Yadav also attacked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that the saffron party wants to keep Dalit as slaves.

Mr. Yadav also accused Mr. Kumar of cheating the people of Bihar by going with the BJP and not giving due respect to the backwards and Dalits. He recalled when his father was Chief Minister of Bihar, he used to visit the Dalit Tola quite frequently and used to encourage parents to make their children educated.

“BJP is a feudal party which does not want poor children to be educated, BJP does not want to give them their rights, they do not want Dalits to get jobs. BJP wants to keep the backwards and Dalits as slaves. BJP wants to snatch your rights and we are fighting against the BJP, “ Mr. Yadav said.

Earlier in the day when he visited the party office to garland the photo of Dr. Ambedkar, he alleged that the BJP was continuously trying to weaken the ideology and Constitution of Baba Saheb.

“Today, going against the ideology of Ambedkar ji, BJP is following the ideology of Guru Golwalkar and Nathuram Godse, but due to compulsion, despite not wanting to, Ambedkar ji’s birth anniversary is being celebrated by BJP,” Mr. Yadav said.

He pointed out when the grand alliance government was in power in Bihar, reservation was increased to 65 % but after the formation of the NDA government, efforts were made to end it by sending the reservation issue to the court.

Mr. Yadav also reacted to the cryptic remark made by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini allegedly indicating that Bihar Assembly election would be contested under the leadership of Samrat Choudhary. Mr. Yadav said that in BJP everyone wants to become the Chief Minister.

“Every leader in the BJP wants to become the Chief Minister of Bihar but after two days another name will surface and will be discussed again. This time NDA’s old car will not run in Bihar. This time the people of Bihar will form the government with a new car. Mahagathbandhan will form the government in Bihar,” Mr. Yadav said.
