Karnataka Minister H.K. Patil has likened the State government’s ‘Janata Darshan’ programme to an open Parliament session, which helped in resolving people’s problems immediately.

Speaking at the district level ‘Janata Darshan’ programme at Mulagund town in Gadag district on Saturday, Mr. Patil said that the benefits extended by the government should reach the beneficiaries directly. “A pro-people governance where there is no scope for middlemen is the main objective of the government,” he said.

“Janata Darshan has emerged as a platform where the public can directly express their grievances. They will be resolved immediately,” he said.

The Minister said that during the previous ‘Janata Darshans’, 951 applications were accepted in the first phase, 352 applications in the second phase, and 855 applications in the third phase. All of them were resolved properly, he said.

Mr. Patil said that Gadag district had become a model to the State by achieving 98% target in the implementation of the guarantee schemes. “Every family is getting a benefit to the tune of ₹6,000 per month, which is a revolutionary step in the country,” he said.

The Minister called on the officials to tread in the path shown by the Constitution and asked them not to look down upon the citizens. “Governance should be imparted with civility and compassion,” he said.

He said the policing system in Gadag district has improved with the implementation of ‘Third Eye’ and other initiatives, and consequently the Home Minister appreciated the Gadag district police on couple of occasions.

Deputy Commissioner C.N. Sridhar said that through ‘Janata Darshan’, issues raised by the public were addressed on the spot in most cases. “The programme would also boost the image of the officials in the eyes of the public,” he said, asking the officials to treat the public with civility and compassion. A host of elected representatives were present.
