There has been no power tariff hike since the TDP-led coalition took over the reins in June 2024, Energy Minister Gottipati Ravikumar has reiterated.

Speaking to media persons after inaugurating a 33/11 kV substation at the TIDCO housing colony in Vuyyuru on Thursday, Mr. Ravi Kumar said the government was striving to reduce the electricity costs and enhance power infrastructure.

He said the YSRCP was spreading lies that the power tariffs had been increased to tarnish the image of the coalition government. The burdensome tariffs borne by the people were due to the steep hikes that had been effected during the YSRCP regime, he insisted.

Mr. Ravi Kumar said the government was strengthening the power supply network to spur  industrial growth and development of seaports. He advised the officials to spread public awareness about PM Surya Ghar and PM Kusum schemes, which were aimed at transforming households into self-reliant energy producers, thereby reducing their electricity bills, and providing uninterrupted daytime power to farmers.

“Andhra Pradesh has tremendous potential in the Renewable Energy (RE) sector and efforts are being made to become the front-runner in harnessing it,” the Minister added.

Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Balashowri and Penamaluru MLA Bode Prasad were present.
