IIT-Madras sets up centre to study science of happiness

The Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M) has established the Rekhi Centre of Excellence for science of happiness. The not-for-profit organisation, Rekhi Foundation for Happiness, will work towards integrating happiness studies into the academic curriculum. The institute signed a memorandum of agreement on March 24. The signatories were Satinder Singh Rekhi, founder of Rekhi Foundation, and Manu Santhanam, dean (IC and SR), at the institute. IIT-M Director V. Kamakoti said the objective was to cultivate an ideal student-faculty environment, reinforcing the idea that true learning and holistic personal growth extended beyond academic scores.
